4th General Assembly of St. Charles Lwanga Independent Delegation
The 4th General Assembly of the St. Charles Lwanga Independent Delegation with the theme “A Community Rooted in Christ and Audacious in Mission” is being celebrated in Nairobi, Kenya from 20th November to 25th November with 53 perpetually professed members. Fr. Henry Omonisaye, CMF, Vicar and Prefecture of Bible and Communication, presides over the Assembly.
The preparation for the delegation assembly began with an online meeting of Fr. Henry with the council members of the delegation on 28th June 2023. It was agreed in the meeting that there is a need to involve every member of the delegation in the assembly preparations. On 16th July, on the 174th Foundation Day of the congregation the major superior, Fr. Joy Mampillikunnel, officially declared the process of delegation assembly open.
As a follow-up, there was an online meeting for the local superiors and the vicars of communities together with the delegation council and Fr. Henry on 9th August. Fr. Henry emphasized the need to have a serious preparation phase. The major superior set the time for the various preparation phases including the sounding for the new government of the delegation, the preparation of the report at the community level etc. The Delegation Council prepared the questionnaires and sent them to the communities. A team was set up to compile the report from the communities. Another team to evaluate the Technical Economic Report was also announced.
With the complied report from the communities available, the intensive preparation of the government report began. The delegation council met various times to discuss the preparations and evaluate the reports. Finally, the Government Report and the Technical Economic reports were approved by the council on the 15th of November. On the 16th, the members of the delegation assembly began to arrive with Fr. Henry himself followed by others. The council had the final meeting with Fr. Henry on the 18th of November to finalize the logistics and discuss the modalities of the assembly together with the need to have various teams and persons responsible.
The members reported to the Retreat Centre of the Little Daughters of St. Joseph, Karen on Sunday 19th November. The first part of day one of the assembly was spent in recollection animated by Fr. Hery on the theme, discernment of the will of God. The reflections made the members of the assembly on need to discern the will of God for the delegation, very specially during the assembly. The Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Henry.
The afternoon session began with the enthronement of the Holy Bible in the assembly hall. The major superior Fr. Joy Mampillikunnel, welcomed the members and the assembly president. The message from the Superior General was communicated by Fr. Henry. The president of the assembly, presented the modalities and other details of the assembly and declared assembly opened. The Discovery Phase of the assembly was set in motion with the presentation of the government report and the clarifications. The birthday celebrations of Dn. Simon Tumusime added color to the day.
