A DECADE OF BLESSINGS AMIDST THE 175TH JUBILEE YEAR
As part of the 175th anniversary of the foundation of the Claretian congregation and the 10th anniversary of the erection of St. Charles Lwanga Independent Delegation and as a conclusion of the General Canonical visitation to the delegation, the local superiors of the delegation had a two-day meeting (29th – 30th May 2024) at Claret Villa in Nairobi with the Delegation Government to evaluate the life and mission of the Delegation.
Two months long General canonical visitation was conducted by Rev. Fr. Carlos Sanches, CMF the General Prefect of Spirituality and Community life from Rome.
Fr. Carlos conducted the two-month-long General Canonical Visitation, traveling from Rome to visit all the communities and institutions within the delegation and to speak individually with each member. At the outset of the meeting, Rev. Fr. Mathew Vattamattam, CMF, the Superior General of the Claretians, welcomed the members and urged them to continue along a synodal path in their Gospel proclamation.
Fr. Carlos shared his observations, outlining both the strengths and challenges faced by the delegation after ten years of its existence.
The superiors presented the challenges encountered at the community level and discussed how they are embracing the Jubilee Year of grace. The delegation’s government also unveiled its action plan for the next three years, detailing various planned activities. Each prefecture provided a summary report of its initiatives and progress. All the participants agreed that the past ten years were a time of grace, growth and communion.
The meeting concluded with a celebration of the Silver Jubilee of the religious consecration of Frs. Pius Nwankwo and Charles Borromeo.
