St. Claret School Embarks on Enriching Study Tour to Zanzibar Island
On July 19th, the students and faculty of St. Claret School embarked on an exciting study tour to the beautiful Zanzibar Island for class seven students of 2024. The journey began in Dar es Salaam, where the group boarded a ship early in the morning, setting the tone for an adventure-filled two days. The students had the unique opportunity to visit the ship’s cockpit during their voyage. The captain graciously explained in detail how the ship is operated, providing an invaluable learning experience about maritime navigation and operations.
Upon arrival in Zanzibar, the group enjoyed a hearty breakfast before heading to Prison Island, renowned for its rich history and giant tortoises. After exploring the island, they returned for a delightful lunch, followed by an afternoon of swimming in the crystal-clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The evening was capped off with a visit to Forodhani Street Market, where students experienced the vibrant local culture and cuisine. A delicious dinner and much-needed rest concluded the first day.
The next morning, after a refreshing breakfast, the group visited Zanzibar’s famous spice gardens. Here, they learned about the island’s rich agricultural heritage and the various spices that have made Zanzibar a significant trading hub for centuries. Lunch followed, after which the students embarked on a walking tour of Stone Town. They visited several historic sites, including the former slave market, gaining valuable insights into the island’s complex history and cultural significance.
The tour wrapped up with the group boarding a ship back to Dar es Salaam on the evening of July 20th, arriving back at St. Claret School enriched and inspired by their journey. The students and faculty expressed their heartfelt gratitude to their parents and the school administration for making this unforgettable trip possible.
