Claretian Discerning Leadership Workshop Held in Nairobi
October 9-14, 2024 – Nairobi, Kenya: The Charles Lwanga Independent Delegation of the
Claretian Missionaries are conducting a significant workshop on Claretian Discerning Leadership (CDL) from October 9th to 14th in Nairobi. 22 members of the delegation are
undergoing this workshop at Claret Villa, Karen, Nairobi. The program is facilitated by Fr.
Stanislaus Chigozie Ekwujuru cmf from East Nigeria Province. This workshop is organized as
part of the ongoing formation program of members, and this is the first group to undertake
this workshop. This gathering is aimed to promote a culture of discernment within
leadership roles and cultivate a deeper sense of responsibility within their communities.
The primary goal of the workshop is to instill a culture of discernment across all levels of the
congregation, particularly among those in leadership positions. Emphasis was placed on
fostering a leadership style that aligns with both ecclesial and congregational principles,
while integrating insights from modern human society.
The workshop provides a platform for personal and collective growth, helping participants
develop both as individuals and as responsible Claretians, committed to the well-being of
their communities and ministries. Through interactive sessions, participants were equipped
with the tools needed to exercise discerning leadership within the ever-evolving context of
the Church and the Claretian community.
Organizers highlighted that one of the key objectives was to enable as many Claretians as
possible to effectively practice CDL. This involves thoughtful decision-making grounded in
spiritual and ethical principles, while responding to contemporary challenges. By focusing on
discernment, the workshop aimed to reinforce a leadership framework that reflects the
missionary charism of the Claretians in their service to the wider community.
The event in Nairobi is a pivotal step in furthering the Claretians’ commitment to leadership
rooted in discernment and wisdom, ensuring that the congregation continues to thrive and
adapt in its missions.
